Sustainalize is expanding its activities to Germany by opening an office in Cologne. The festive opening took place on Thursday 23 January, in the presence of clients and relations. German clients of Sustainalize, such as Deutsche Telekom and HeidelbergCement, have so far been advised from the headquarters in Utrecht. To facilitate the growing demand in the German market and to be able to add local expertise to international experience, Sustainalize has now opened a German subsidiary.
Sustainalize has achieved significant growth in recent years and won the FD Gazelle Award in 2019 for one of the fastest growing companies in the Netherlands. In addition, the sustainability consultancy will celebrate its ten-year anniversary this year. Besides the offices in Utrecht and Brussels, the addition of an office in Cologne fits with the international expansion of the company and strengthens the position of Sustainalize in the European market. The office in Cologne, which is located at the Am Niehler Hafen, gives the German team the opportunity to work more efficiently with locally established national and international clients and to respond effectively to the growing demands in the market.
Nick de Ruiter (Partner): “I am extremely proud of our team and the leading client portfolio that we have been able to provide advice in the past 10 years. With the expansion of our activities to Germany, we will be able to support our German clients with various sustainability issues even better. This step confirms that Sustainalize has matured. I am confident that Lena and her team, with all their knowledge and experience, will further expand our client base in Cologne and move forward to a sustainable future.”
Partner and founder of the German office, Lena Hülsmann: “German companies are also increasingly aware that they need to take action now to keep the world liveable for future generations. We believe that companies can make a difference. Opening an office in Germany enables us to better help our clients with making their business more sustainable and future-proof. Also, we are able to apply our experiences with the many (listed) Dutch companies to German companies.”Olivier Benz, member of the German team since 2.5 years, will from now on also be based in Cologne. “Our new office brings us closer to the interesting developments in Germany, that have received a major push forward in 2019. The aim is to not only support organizations in Germany with our experience from the Netherlands, but that we can also create new ideas and solutions that will benefit our Dutch and Belgian colleagues and clients,” Olivier adds.
Aside from Lena Hülsmann and Olivier Benz, Anja Cichowlas is part of the four-member German team as well. Anja has extensive experience in the German market and has worked in sustainability functions for KPMG, DER Touristik and Lufthansa Cargo in Frankfurt, among others. Anja: “By opening a German office, we are even closer to our German clients. At the same time, we remain in strong exchange with our Dutch colleagues, so that we can apply our expertise from the Netherlands in Germany.”
